Exercise Physiology Services at Bodyfix: Personalised Programs for Strength, Recovery, and Health Support

Our Exercise Physiology services at Bodyfix are designed to support clients in improving their physical function, fitness, and recovery from chronic conditions or injury through personalised, evidence-informed exercise programs.

Exercise Physiology focuses on the use of tailored exercise interventions to assist in the management and prevention of chronic diseases, support injury rehabilitation, and enhance physical function and overall wellbeing.

Unlike general fitness programs, Exercise Physiology is a clinical approach delivered by university-qualified health professionals who understand the complex relationship between exercise, physiology, and health conditions. Accredited Exercise Physiologists are trained to monitor your body during exercise to help ensure safety and support meaningful outcomes.

Each plan is developed and overseen by Accredited Exercise Physiologists, providing structured and personalised support for clients with chronic conditions, recovering from injury or surgery, or working toward improved health and wellbeing.

Exercise Physiology FAQ

An Exercise Physiologist is a university-qualified health professional specialising in the use of exercise to support the management of chronic conditions, assist with injury rehabilitation, and improve strength and physical function. They design individualised programs aimed at safe, sustainable progress across a wide range of health concerns.

While both Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists use exercise to support recovery, they focus on different stages and types of care:

  • Exercise Physiologists: Focus on long-term exercise prescription, particularly for chronic conditions, often using a hands-off approach.

  • Physiotherapists: Often use hands-on techniques alongside exercise, with a focus on early-stage injury management and post-surgical care.

Typically, clients begin with a Physiotherapist for initial injury management and transition to an Exercise Physiologist for ongoing rehabilitation and long-term health maintenance.

Exercise Physiologists complete a four-year university degree and at least 500 hours of clinical placement, qualifying them to work with a wide range of clients, including those with chronic health conditions or complex needs.
In contrast, personal trainers typically complete shorter vocational certifications and are generally qualified to work with individuals who do not have known medical conditions or high-risk factors.
Sessions with an Accredited Exercise Physiologist may be eligible for rebates though Medicare or private health insurance, depending on your referral and individual cover.

Your first appointment includes a consultation to discuss your medical and musculoskeletal history, followed by a thorough assessment to help determine your current capabilities, set realistic goals, and guide the development of a personalised plan. Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear suitable for movement or exercise.

No referral is needed unless you are claiming through Medicare (e.g. EPC/CDM), the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), Medicare (EPC), or Work Cover.

At Bodyfix, we’re committed to supporting your long-term health and fitness through personalised exercise physiology programs informed by current research. Contact us today to learn more about how our services can assist with your wellness and recovery goals.
