Have you Injured Yourself at Work?

What do I do first?

Firstly, seek the appropriate medical assistance for your injury. It is also important to let your employer know of your injury straight away, so it can be recorded and WorkCover can be notified. Following this, the doctor or hospital will supply you with a ‘Work Capacity Certificate’, which will need to be given to your employer to be submitted with your WorkCover claim. Ensure that your claim is lodged with WorkCover as soon as possible, therefore it can be assessed, and you can begin your recovery promptly.

What happens after my claim is assessed?

Once WorkCover has assessed your injury and your claim has been approved, rehabilitation and recovery can take place. Typically, WorkCover will allow 6 pre-approved physiotherapy visits to kickstart your recovery process. Here at BodyFix, we are equipped to assist you in your rehabilitation back to work.

How to book in for Physiotherapy?

When booking you in, we will require a few extra details to ensure your visits are being covered by WorkCover. This includes your claim number, your ‘Work Capacity Certificate’, any prior investigations/scans and any other medical details relating to your injury.

Why Physiotherapy is important in WorkCover.

Physiotherapy is vital in recovery for clients who experience workplace injuries. Your Physiotherapist will help assess your injury and will document your condition for your WorkCover claim. They will also tailor a rehabilitation program which will have the goal of reducing pain, improving your mobility, and restoring function based on your injury and your job demands. Your physiotherapist will work closely with your employer and case manager to create a safe and realistic return to work plan. Through regular sessions to track your progress and adjust your treatment, our goal is to have you return to work at a higher capacity to before your injury to reduce your risk of reinjury.

What does Treatment look like?

Firstly, you will have a thorough initial appointment to allow your physiotherapist to gain an understanding of your injury and the best course of action to have you returning to work better than before your injury. Your physiotherapist will likely recommend your visits to be regular in the beginning, this will allow for your pain to be managed easier. Once your pain begins to ease, your physiotherapist may recommend our ‘Rehab Class’ or using our gym to allow you to continue your progress though a personalised program.
