You may be able to claim Medicare rebates for physiotherapy / exercise physiology if you have a chronic condition or ongoing pain that is being managed by your GP under the Medicare 'Chronic Disease Management Plan'.

Chronic medical conditions

A chronic condition is one that has been (or is likely to be) present for six months or longer, for example, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and musculoskeletal conditions .

Patients in residential aged care facilities

Residents of residential aged care facilities may also be eligible for Medicare rebates for physiotherapy / exercise physiology services if their GP has contributed to a care plan prepared by the facility.

Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology Services

You can be referred for up to five physiotherapy/ exercise physiology sessions each calendar year. Only your GP can decide whether you should be referred for these services.
